A Brief History of Difference

Mr and Mrs Clark was formed by Gareth Clark and Marega Palser. Marega trained at The Place and went on to study fine art. Gareth’s training is in social engagement and education. As performers they developed a reputation for making engaging shows that packed a message. The Clarks use dance and music, strong visual images and enjoy interactive moments with their audience to create meaningful connections. Since moving to Newport their work has adapted to their surroundings creating shows that reflected the changes in the city. Their show Smash It Up was shortlisted for the Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award highlighting the loss of public art and space in new developments. They have been regulars at the Edinburgh Fringe since 2012 and their work has showcased in the US, Morocco, Czech Republic, Canada, Germany, Slovenia and Luxenbourg. They have toured new productions annually to theatres for the last 5 years and have used the Night Out scheme to reach new audiences via rural touring. The Clarks are regulars with Hijinx Theatre and have worked with Frantic Assembly, Punch Drunk, Told By An Idiot and most recently with Lea Anderson of The Cholmondeleys.
