Show Name: Merlin's pig

Mochyn Myrddin is a storytelling performance based on the life of Myrddin and his encounters with magical animals, the symbolism of such; the pig/wild boar/sow and featuring the myths and folktales that elucidate the deeper meanings. It is an exploration of the living myth and how it relates to the present day and in particular the relevance to our current ecological situation. These tales hold gifts for us that may generate insights and understandings as well as restoring a sense of meaning, wonder and hope. The tale begins in Celyddon, the forest to which Myrddin flees seeking the sanctuary of an apple tree, a remedy for disturbing futuristic visions triggered by the Battle of Arderydd. He befriends a wolf and a pig and the stories they tell each other unearth deep memories of an ancient sow goddess, a gallant quest involving the pursuit of the giant boar Twrch Trwyth, Myrddins own early life, his mysterious conception and his first prophecy. 2000 years later a young single mum receives a visitation that will influence the course of her life and ultimately lead her to Wales on a quest for the living myth of Myrddin and the primal power of the land. Ultimately it is a call to re-evaluate the stories we tell ourselves and to discover codes, hidden till the time is right for revelation. Audience Feedback. “. . . entertaining and illuminating; I was gripped from start to finish. I loved the interplay and transcendental journey between folk lore and personal experience, . . . . it gave me a sense of connection to the places in the story. Milly is a rare gift of a storyteller.” “I loved the specificity of the work – the way she placed herself in the land.”
