Deirdre Cartwright is a London-based, award-winning jazz guitarist & composer, and a leading female instrumentalist on the British music scene. She has performed previously at Brecon Jazz Club & also BJ Festival to high praise and acclaim, and most often as a superb guest player in our other linesups. Here, she brings her own Trio. They are all top class and exciting performers who are launching an album in London in the summer of this year. We would like to bring the Trio to the Jazz Club in the early autumn and we can anticipate a good turnout and appreciative audience and review. They will be playing a mix of some original music for the Trio, as well as Jazz 'standards', Latin numbers and jazz interpretations of some popular classics. Deirdre is known to many aspiring guitarists from here early 'RockSchool' programmges and teaching, so this makes it a very accessible and attractive booking for us, and promises a thrilling night out for many local and travel to area people. Inspired by the sounds of the classic jazz organ/guitar trios of the 1960s — such as the music of Kenny Burrell/Jimmy Smith and Grant Green/Larry Young, Wes Montgomery/Melvin Rhyne, they also play some original takes on the Beatles, The Doors, Dire Straits and Ray Charles.
