Show Description
We all know that everyone in the valleys has a story to tell, but in most cases it’s more fascinating, more bizarre, more humorous than fiction. But why call these true stories Clecs? We associate Clecs as lies or gossip- Paid â chario clecs! / Don’t tell tales! we might have been told in school. But Clecs are our myths: they’re the stories that we tell everyday at the bus stop, in the pub, down the shop. They’re about characters we know, incidents that have happened, places where we’ve been. They’re the way we understand our community, how it was formed, how it survives and how it will forge into the future. Without the strong foundation of the stories that shape us - we can’t possibly know who we’ll become. And in an increasingly complex world, Carrying Clecs has something to say about our future and our destiny. Because when it comes to valleys’ stories, you really couldn’t make it up. "Imagine a hall or theatre where this compelling and smiling figure comes out and tells stories in which you hear your own story. And crucially, with these stories in our imaginations, we can travel into the future together. Our confidence and our wellbeing will be hugely enriched." Dr Phil George, OBE "Derry Girls meets Under Milkwood, these stories need to be heard!" "Took me right back to childhood- saw the places, saw the people, felt the hiraeth!"
