Performer Name: Louise Jordan

Show Name: Behind Enemy Lines

Show Description

‘Behind Enemy Lines’ tells the story of the women who worked as spies in occupied France during the Second World War. Extraordinary women whose courage, daring, ingenuity and sacrifice defeated Nazi terror, these women were trained in sabotage, subversion and silent killing. Songwriter and storyteller Louise Jordan brings the women of Special Operations Executive to life through original song, live music and storytelling. Behind Enemy Lines is my 7th touring show and I will draw on all I have learned in the last ten years to make this an interactive, entertaining and enjoyable experience for audiences. Here is some recent feedback from rural touring audiences: “Thoroughly researched, very informative and entertaining, excellent musicianship, a really good evening.” "This was a wonderful evening. Louise was just great - creative, friendly and with the most beautiful voice. I would definitely come to see her again." “Highly original and absorbing” “Louise made this woman’s life story one we could all relate to.” “A brilliant performance and evening, which I found very emotional, inspiring and uplifting”

In 2021 Louise created her first piece of outdoor theatre called 'Pop Up Pedestal'. Louise’s most recent touring show ‘Behind Enemy Lines’ is supported by Arts Council England and will start touring in November 2025. A former history teacher and youth worker, Louise has written songs for UK Parliament and the V&A Museum, given talks for the National Trust, University of Oxford and Hampshire Police. The thread that underpins all of Louise’s work is her desire to challenge existing narratives around gender and power.
