Performer Name: Lubna Kerr
Show Name: Chatterbox
Show Description
Chatterbox, a play about a Pakistani girl starting primary school in 1970s Glasgow, Lubna was labelled “stupid” because she couldn’t speak English – by people who couldn’t speak Urdu. This humorous and touching semi-autobiographical one-woman show looks at the impact of the labels we are given as children, and how they persist into adulthood. What labels were you given? How did they affect you? Do they still make you anxious? Where did you find safety when neds chased you down the street? The show is a prequel to actor, writer, comedian Lubna Kerr’s four-star Fringe hit Tickbox.
I had a BSL interpreter at the Edinburgh Fringe but will need more funding them.
I can organise a touch tour for people who are blind or partially sighted. Can produce an audio of the background to the show. This will not cost any more.
Simple lighting , whatever is available at the venue.
Will need a technician, have the sound cues on my mac and will bring that.
Yes can provide a poster
Lubna has written two one woman 4 star plays.
Tickbox and its updated version Tickbox2 and Chatterbox.
Both have had full runs at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2023 and 2024.
Tickbox /2 has toured extensively in Scotland and England.
Chatterbox is starting that journey. I also have. comedy storytelling show called The C word (not that one) which performed at the Women's comedy festival in Manchester.
All three shows are avaiIable to tour and I would love to bring them to Wales.
She is now touring it around the United Kingdom. See tour dates.
