Show Description
Mascot Moth are an experimental psychedelic rock band based at Llanfyllin Workhouse, known for their eclectic fusion of prog, blues, space and krautrock influences. Formed in 2016 after the hiatus of Strap The Button, Mascot Moth remains an independent band, dedicated to collaboration, exploring new musical landscapes and sharing their psychedelic journeys with audiences. Their commitment and passion for blending traditional Welsh cultural elements with experimental sounds sets them apart in the contemporary music scene. Mascot Moth perform high energy musical shows from 40 to 120 minutes as well as experimental improvisations and collaborative multi-discipline experiences. Our singles 'Treiglad Meddwl’ and ‘Y Twll’ - from our 2024 Welsh language album, 'Nol i Annwfn,' have recently featured on Adam Walton's show on BBC Radio Wales and have also been played by Georgia Ruth, Huw Stephens & Rhys Mwyn on Radio Cymru. Adam had some nice words to say: "Everything about this album is resolutely nonmetropolitan, just wonderfully removed and outside of music....it totally rips up the playbook in terms of genre and instrumentation....I love it very much indeed" Gwilym Morus Baird, review 'Nol i Annwfn' 2024: "The spiritual root of the album is the high Welsh moorland, where torn pages of medieval literature have been cast to the slow wind. If you can understand the native lingo there is a coherent direction, signposts to Annwfn (the Welsh otherworld) across an empty mountain-side where feelings of loss and pride are mixed with a very deep sense of belonging to places most visitors can’t even pronounce."
