Performer Name: Weird Folk
Show Name: In the Beginning - The Marvellous Myth Hunter
Show Description
It’s time to dust off your maps and strap on your jet packs - The Myth Hunter needs your help to find the most treacherous, the most astounding – and the most disgusting stories known to human-kind! We’ll travel to ancient Congo to meet a god with an upset stomach, dodge the foul ice giants of Norse mythology, and voyage to the lands of the Anishinaabe in Canada - to find out why we're all living on the back of a giant turtle. Bring your best adventure outfit and join us for daring escapes, swordfights, weird creatures, interactive games and the chance to become an honorary member of The Myth Hunter Academy. Suitable for everyone 5-11 with a thirst for perilous inter-continental adventure, their families and familiars.
Self-contained. Dark/blackout preferred but not essential.
We bring our own PA, lighting and all other equipment - just regular domestic (13amp) power near the stage area. We're very flexible and love doing performances in weird/atmospheric/outdoor spaces - feel free to chat to us!
Happy to do flyers/posters up to £60 per venue
Amari Harris and Andy McKeane are Weird Folk. We make stories for adults and family audiences, and since 2023 have played at South Bank Centre, Camp Bestival and Mumbai International Literature festival. Amari Harris is a storyteller and drama practitioner, and has worked with Punchdrunk, the Old Vic, The Young Vic and the Donmar Warehouse. Andy is a theatremaker and musician, and has played at Latitude Festival, in a 4000 year-old egyptian temple and is, weirdly, a professional whistler, as well as producing for Night Out Wales faves Wright&Grainger. We both learnt our trade in local halls and arts centres, and love that feeling when a neighbourhood comes together.
