Performer Name: Tamar Williams

Show Name: Mali a'r Môr / Mali and the Sea

Show Description

“Mewn a mas, mewn a mas”: the sea brings things, the sea takes things away. Mali knows this. Her beloved island home is full of treasures tossed up on the tide. Every day, Mali, with her little doll Megan by her side, watches and waits for Dada’s fishing boat to come home. But one day, the sea turns stormy, and Dada’s boat doesn’t appear. Can Mali and Megan find a way of bringing him home? A tale of the wonders of the waves for little folk, told in Welsh and English, through song, story, and puppetry. Based on the much-loved Molly books by Malachy Doyle, for ages 2+.

The show does not require formal lighting; it can be adapted for informal and formal performance spaces. As the show includes shadow puppetry, we will bring our own equipment for this.
The show has been designed for libraries, school halls, community centres, and small theatre spaces. We need a playing space of approx. 3m by 3m, but can adapt to smaller spaces if necessary. We usually recommend seating children on mats or blankets and adults behind, as the puppetry is best viewed from the floor. Get in and out 30mins, with some bulky items, so parking close by is appreciated.
