Show Description

Borders Ensemble - Tales and Reveries: A collection of chamber music inspired by childhood and fairytales Join Borders Ensemble (a flexible chamber group for clarinet, violin, cello and piano) as they explore musical myth, fable and magic with their programme of music inspired by childhood and fairytales. The concert will include pieces by Ravel, Janacek, Rebecca Clarke and Frank Bridge alongside some more contemporary works. Line-up: Annie Perry - clarinet/bass clarinet David Grubb - violin Christopher Fossey - piano Kirsten Miller - cello Annie Perry and David Grubb started Borders as a trio in 2014 after graduating from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Performing to critical acclaim at various festivals, for lunchtime recitals and music societies across Wales and the South West, Borders have always aimed to disseminate the lesser-known repertoire of their ensemble, and have commissioned several new pieces over the years. The group became a quartet in 2019 with the addition of Kirsten Miller’s cello, and began to explore yet more new repertoire. Christopher Fossey took over as the group’s pianist in 2021 with a triumphant return to chamber music following the pandemic. This is their third tour as a quartet since then with some exciting new repertoire: modern classical chamber music with influences from folk, jazz and ballet. Testimonials: "Borders Ensemble are an innovative, vibrant group of players with fresh style; their performances are inspiring, sparkling and uplifting" "Incredible sensitivity and creativity in music-making" "Absolutely amazing!" @bordersensemble FB bordersensemble
