Performer Name: Amledd

Show Name: Billy, Rhi a Sam

Show Description

Billy, Rhi a Sam offer a smaller version of the band Amledd. As such, this band is also able to provide some elements of Billy Thompson's Gypsy project (Billy Thompson Gypsy Style) playing a selection of gypsy jazz tunes from that set. Billy, Rhi a Sam also allows an opportunity to perform the latest songs from Rhi. Amledd's last release was back in 2006 offering original Welsh modern folk penned by Rhian Thompson (Williams at the time) and Billy Thompson. Now retired from her teaching role, Rhi has been writing prolifically and a new full album is being worked on which will simply be entitled 'Rhi'. The songs focus on her new outlook on life since being diagnosed with Addison's Disease. Some songs are in Welsh and some are in English. With the addition of Sam (Thompson), various cover songs are also performed from Bob Dylan to Nick Drake and contemporary artist Mac DeMarco amongst others.

We have a small LED stage light that gives some focus to the band. The ability to have some light on the band and no light on the audience would be preferable.
A plug socket (power supply) within 10 metres of the stage area will be required.
A poster can be provided if required.
Amledd was created when Billy Thompson met Rhian Williams whilst touring around Wales with Welsh legend Meic Stevens. Amledd also features Dave Elwyn on Guitar, Dave 'Taif' Ball on Fretless Bass and Steve Roberts on drums… All this is behind Rhian Williams singing her uniquely original lyrics and Billy being very busy in a very tasteful manner putting his violin and mandolin through all sorts of paces/effects… To date, Amledd have performed all around Welsh speaking Wales including Eisteddfods, Schools, Noson Lawen (ar S4C) and at various other venues. "It's the combination of his [Billy’s] smart melodies and her [Rhian’s] canny vocal that makes this one of the smartest indie rock based projects to come calling in a while." Chester Chronicle.
