MOONCOIN is a traditional barn dance or ceilidh band ( sometimes spelt 'ceili' ) based in North Wales, UK. Founded in 1985, we are North Wales' most popular ceilidh band. We play a variety of music from the British Isles and beyond, including Irish, Welsh, Scottish, English, American and European tunes, for dancers of all abilities and ages.

We are a community dance band playing for traditional dances in North Wales and Cheshire. We comprise 4 musicians and a caller. Our we play music and call (teach) dances from Wales and the British Isles. Our callers work through the media of Welsh and/or English. The typical instrumental line-up of the band is fiddle, harp, guitar and melodeon (button accordian). Our caller walks the dancers through the steps and then calls out the moves when the music stops.
