About Us

The Arts Council of Wales' Night Out scheme works with communities around Wales to bring performing arts to local halls and community venues.

Since 1980, Night Out has worked with a network of voluntary promoters to bring over 14,000 shows into local spaces. Shows are hosted by volunteers from community groups who want to bring live arts into their local venues. Community groups (known as 'Promoters') can choose from a huge range of great professional performers and put them on in local spaces and other non-traditional venues across the country. Around 500 shows are booked through the scheme each year, by over 300 different promoters.

If you want more detailed information on how Night Out works and advice on what to book or promoting events visit the Promoter Section.

Noson Allan Fach

Alongside the main scheme we also run the Noson Allan Fach scheme, which offers small shows for member-led organisations such as Merched y Wawr or Women's Institute.

Guarantee against loss

Working with local authorities in Wales, Night Out operates a guarantee against loss for events, where we pay the performer fee and the community promoter pays back ticket income made at the door. We never take back more than the performer costs, so as a promoter you will never be worse off by using the scheme. The more money promoters make back, the more funds we have available to say yes to another request.

Performances cover many art forms from theatre and circus to puppetry, music of all kinds, dance, circus and storytelling. We offer advice and ideas of artists you can book. Shows are suited to small-scale community halls, but promoters are welcome to book artists not currently listed on our website.
